This Might Not Work
Four of the most freeing and simultaneously terrifying words. This Might Not Work.
It might not. But then again it might. It might work better than we ever dreamed was possible.
The painting might fail. The next chapter might lumber along awkwardly. The launch might fizzle out before it gets going. You might discover you detest doing the thing you thought you’d love.
It might all come catastrophically crashing down. But at the moment we begin, we won’t know unless we try.
So here’s to:
✅ Permission to let the pressure of perfection go.
✅ Permission to hit pause and play with possibilities.
✅ Permission to not have to have it all together or figured out before we begin.
✅ Permission to show up and be present without the polish.
And yes, I am mostly talking to myself. 😉
I’ve tried leading formal learning communities with complicated content outlines and social media group schedules. Spoiler alert: I failed miserably.
I overthought things in spectacular ways. I set structures up that totally overwhelmed and shut me down. Like freeze response alllll the way down.
So I’m turning things inside out here. We are keeping it simple and spontaneous. I’m confident we’ll find our rhythms and routines together as we go and grow.
This time around, I’m deeply committed to underpromising so I can delightfully over-deliver.
I know we are nose-to-nose with a likely recession and resources are tight. That’s why as we get up and going the remainder of 2022, you will get carte blanche access to everything as it unfolds.
And starting January 1, 2023, I’m choosing to price things to make this as accessible financially as I possibly can. Think $5.99/month.
Beloved, we have never needed a wonder habit more.
We need to be able to access and engage our creativity. In a chronically disconnected and divided world, we need practices that help us connect to our own reserves of resilience, and to one another. Resilience is a team sport.
Siloed by our social media, we need simple, practical tools that help us lean into vitally important conversations with curiosity and compassion.
Wonder is more than self-care. It’s soul care. And it’s care for our courage, our creativity, and our continued growth.
If you haven’t perused our about page, it tells more of the story and what’s in the works!
LET’S PUT IT INTO PRACTICE
Ever feel the jitters or hesitation when starting a new project or sitting down to create?
Try starting by completing this statement in a way that feels true to where you are in the moment as you begin.
This (project, painting, next step) might not work, but I’m going to (take this specific action) anyway.
For example… This post/my words might not work, but I’m going to show up and start writing about …. and then literally start with the first words that come until you hit a natural pause point.
What did you learn in the process?
